Before contacting Justin Collamore, Upper Arlington artist Judy Hazen worked from home in a space many would consider the appropriate size for a shoe closet. She had to venture from her home on Lane Road in Upper Arlington to her rented studio space in the Short North – a place that she says is great for artists, but tough for renters on a budget. Recently Our President Justin Collamore was contacted by his old high school The Wellington School. They did a web article about about his recent December 2010 Local & April 2011 Regional NARI CotY Award. Talking about how Wellington prepared him for is career and his award winning design & project.
The Wallace home is a charming little 1860′s school house that sits on the Hoover Dam with a glorious view of the water.
The Wallace’s wanted to double the size of their home. During the 1960′s 2 bedrooms and a bath were added to the top of the home, but the stairs are steep and getting harder for them to climb. They love their location so much that they decided to add on a first floor master bedroom and bath to meet their needs as they age.
Justin designed a wonderful addition that captures the beautiful view of their lot while making the home handicap-accessible as well. He designed an open floor plan that can accommodate wheelchairs and a basement for live-in help should the need ever arise. He also added a first floor laundry and a large attic for an office and storage. All this while keeping the space beautiful and true the integrity of the 1860′s home.
The Wallace home will be on the NARI Home Tour this October 2 & 3 2010. More information to come on the tour soon!
